SAN (Storage Area Network)  – For the time being, functionally, this is the dominating technology in terms of high reliability and speed. It uses very fast optical connections (Fiber Channel), and differentiates data storage from an organization’s local network- thus, increasing the speed and reliability of mirroring and storage.
